Reliability Estimation of Commercial Na-NiCl2 batteries using Theoretical and Simulative approaches

چکیده

Sodium-Metal Halide batteries are a promising and cheap alternative to lithium-ion ones for stationary applications such as smart grids. However, the reliability of their elemental cell is low, battery composed hundreds cells could likely have several broken after few working years. Luckily, failure mechanisms not destructive convert in an almost ideal short-circuit. A simulation platform quantify effects on performance was developed this work, used estimate four different Sodium-Nickel (Na – NiCl 2 ) commercial manufactured by FZSoNick. theoretical approach first provided support results obtained from simulations. The study highlights necessity improve power control system maximize its usable energy mitigate degradation caused cells.
